The Queen is in the House!
ByFor the first time ever I was able to get a photo of our queen. Actually, she’s our second queen. The first wore out after 4 years and the colony didn’t survive. The current queen moved into the hive with a few thousand of her ladies-in-waiting later that same spring (2013). While they struggled to survive last year, they made it through the winter at the moment they are THRIVING! Sadly, one of the workers lost her life when she got caught in my sleeve and in self-defense, stung me. Sorry sweetheart.
So is this your hobby? It became verry important now a days … Bees struggel for life more and more. So keep on doing this good work.
The queen is not much bigger so to see….I never saw a bee queen before. Different then in the wasp world, there the queen is much bigger then her workers.
Yes, just a hobby. But an important one like you say. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Nice to meet you.
Fascinating photography — and intriguing words to accompany them. I feel I have the complete story! 🙂
Thanks.
