With the warmer-than-usual temps, I was able to peek into my beehive one last time and check on the girls (they kicked out all the boys/drones out weeks ago) . I was hoping to see if the pesticide strips had gotten rid of the mites I found earlier this fall. Not wanting to disturb them too much, I removed the strips, closed it up tight and collected one of the dead bees to take inside and look at under my grandma’s jewelry magnifying glass. On a whim, I put the glass up to my camera lens and tried to focus. It worked!
I had no idea my girls were so hairy!
